SELECT RECENT CONSULTATIONS AND ADVISORY EXPERIENCES
School of Public Health and Nutrition of Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, MONTERREY, MEXICO
Help build TWU-UANL Consortium to Promote Research in Obesity and Obesity-related Diseases. The recent WHO reports places Mexico on the top of the list of the countries plagued with childhood obesity- a precursor to many adult non-communicable diseases. Furthermore, what happens in Mexico is very important to USA because of our proximity and ethnic distribution of USA.
Nazarbayev University (Kazhakhstan), Center for Life Sciences (CLS)
Serving as a member of the International Partner Advisory Board to help the university with their research initiatives. My specific role will be to help CLS prepare to play a leadership role in evaluating changes in dietary intake and lifestyle of all ethnic groups of Kazakhstan vis-à-vis changes in their health status.   This work is particularly important due to the rapid urban mobility of Kazkahstan’s rural populations and impact of globalization on Kazakh dietary habits.  Such longitudinal data are needed to formulate national public health policies as well as for training of future scientists and doctors and agrifood industry managers. These unique Kazakh strengths will become the linchpin for Kazakh science, engineering, business and education and will also serve as the springboard for Kazakhstan to play a leadership role in the sciences, engineering, nutrition and medicine in Central Asia and on a global scale.
Guild Biosciences, Dublin, Ohio, USA
I am assisting Guild Biosciences as a consultant to develop and validate oral strips  to measure levels of adiponectin, a key hormone in the etiology and progression of many non-communicable diseases.
